Hanging IE6

Hi there
I have Windows Home XP and all updates are loaded including SP1 and SP2. My
problem is that opening IE6 is like playing Russian Roulette in as much as is
there something there or not. Sometimes IE6 will open but just hang there
before connecting to the web. Other times it will half connect to the web and
then hang and sometimes (about 50%) it works normally. I have Broadband
Internet access, all other internet applications work normally at all times
and I am not aware of any other pc problems at all.
I'd be very grateful if someone could advise me how to repair the problem or
reload IE6 again if necessary.
