I'd like to check the version of SSL negotiated by IE with secure sites,
i.e. SSL2 or SSL3.

I note that the 'Certificate' dialogue, under the 'Details' tab, starts with
a 'Version' field, then serial number, signture algorithm etc. What I can't
find anywhere on the MS KB is a definitive description of the 'Version'
field.

My *presumption* is that it's the SSL version in use but I can't find
anything that confirms this :-(

Can anyone confirm my suspicion or tell me what the 'Version' refers to?

PS: To see what I'm talking about...

1. Navigate to any ssl/https site
2. Click on the padlock icon and open the 'Certificate' dialogue
3. Click on the 'Details' tab
4. The first field listed is 'Version' and can show a value of 'V3' -
meaning SSL3???
