Are favourite's different from typed addresses in address bar?

hi folks,

I have a query and wonder if someone could enlighten me.

I was having issues getting to a website (our companies Outlook Web Access
server), it was timing out. The only way round this was if I stopped it
before it timed out then I refreshed it it then worked.

I noticed that this was only happening when I used an Internet Explorer
Favourite. If I typed in the address manually into the address bar it worked
everytime without timing out and without needing to press stop and
refresh. The favourites wasn't marked as "make available offline", it was the
same address as the one I typed into the address bar.

I deleted the favourite, I then typed in the URL into the address bar, I
then added this to my favourites, when I used the favourites again it
worked.

Obviously my problem was solved but I have a lot of people accessing this
website and some are having similar problems so I would like to give them a
proper explanation. So could someone please explain to me what's different
about a favourite and a URL typed in to the address bar?

thanks
Dave
