Wow! You poor thing!! All that and it still does not work!

I'm not sure at this point what may be the actual culprit, but, we first
need to know what you have and don't have for sure. You may have to run a
Repair, but, let's try other steps first, as it may not be necessary.

OK...here is a free, small utility that will tell you everything you might
need to know about your computer and system. Download, install and run it.
If you can download from the Internet, try to find another machine and
download it to a floppy or burn it to a CD, then copy it to your hard drive
and install it there.

Once you run it, then check the list of updates the Windows Updates say you
still need. Check here for some downloads you can save to the hard drive to
install from there in Safe Mode.

Installing from Safe Mode insures that there are no other programs or
activities operating in the background to interfere, and you are not working
through Windows. It often is the best way to install anything to get a good
clean install.

Next.....go to your Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall
the Direct X. It can be reinstalled later.

Additionally, if you have not done all the steps that I provided for Steve,
you should do so as well. Some scumware that has managed to remain hidden
can be brought out when SP2 is installed.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.
