How long before you get the "page not found" placeholder page? I think
IE has a 5-minute timeout. If the web site to which you are navigating
is severely busy, like with many users downloading pages or files or
from a [D]DOS attack, then your browser might be timing out trying to
reach an unresponsive site. The site was working before but doesn't
work now, so it could be a problem with that site or one of the hosts in
the route to that site. If other users tell you they have no problems
accessing that site then ask them to send you a copy of their traceroute
as you might find a host unique to you that is causing the problem or,
if everyone incurs the problem, then you might find a common host
causing the problem. I don't have a problem with that site (other than
they employ a lot of Javascript) and my traceroute to them is:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms <myIPaddrs>
2 16 ms 11 ms 25 ms <mycablemodemIPaddrs>
3 11 ms 11 ms 12 ms bar01-f1-1-0.broohe1.mn.attbb.net
[24.31.1.141]
4 13 ms 11 ms 14 ms 24.31.2.105
5 23 ms 34 ms 28 ms 12.118.239.169
6 22 ms 23 ms 37 ms tbr1-p012301.cgcil.ip.att.net
[12.123.6.9]
7 29 ms 29 ms 30 ms ar1-p300.clboh.ip.att.net
[12.123.210.37]
8 37 ms 34 ms 36 ms 12.126.252.106 <-- this is also att.net
9 54 ms 36 ms 35 ms superbee.pinnacle.com [12.32.71.232]
There is only one hop between my domain (att.net) and theirs. See if
you have something between your ISP's domain and Pinnacle's domain.
