Hi again,
After further research- I found a crap load of entries in my hosts file. It
seems that this was the culprit. Sorry for post, but maybe this can be of use
to someone else. The file is located in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc and
resetting it fixed my problems. I don't know why it helped the Yahoo IM
issues, but it did (or at least everything seems to run fine now).
