i've alway had my settings for internet and intranet set at
enable
disable
disable
enable enable

for a long time and never had any ill effects. the whole thing started when
i got that darn dragon themes for my wife. i have just downloaded a copy of
firefox and installed it as a alternative for IE6 . its ok, but i like the
way i can have my fav's open to the left and just click which one i want.
firefox is a bit diff. you have to keep going to the browser each time and
click/ i wished it would stay open like IE6. i know, it has tabbed browsing.
but i have so many places in my list it wont list then all unless i choose
open tab. then i have all these little deals stuck across the bottom of the
upper browser header and i cant tell which is which. anyway i just ran a
checkdisk set to auto correct errors. and apparently it fixed some things.
too quick to see what it did screen only stays up for aboput 2 or 3 secs. but
im using the IE6 now and i havent seen any popup messages for activex or
script allowing yet. i have been to several sites and forum places and
nothing yet. maybe that fixed it. maybe there was a error someplace that was
causing it due to me removing those darn themes. who knows, but it seems ok
now. might be just temp. though. i'll just have to wait and see. but i linked
to those places you gave me. the winsock and other stuff and these in case it
happens again maybe theyll help if need be for it again. i appreciate the
help youve given me. those links and all. thanks, scott lang
