I spent a couple hours today trying to figure out a problem
for a customer today and never did figure it out. They
have Windows 200 Pro on an older, custom computer.

For some reason, they can't connect to any .gov domains, no
matter what it is. They can connect to other sites, but no
.gov ones. It also seems to hang up when trying Windows
Update. It will connect to the v4 Windows Update though.

At first, I thought it was a virus of some kind, but I ran
their Mcafee and found nothing. I tried Mcafee's latest
apps, like Stinger, and they found nothing. I tried the
Symantec tools and they also found nothing. I made sure
their system had all the latest security updates. I ran
Spybot and and Ad-Aware which found some things, but
nothing that solved the issue.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be. I'm heading
back tomorrow to try and fix it. I thought I would
download Firefox and see if it is also having problems with
.gov domains or not.

Has anyone ever seen something like this before? How did
you fix it?
