Frank,

Create a new user profile and see if you're able to download the ActiveX
control (and visit WindowsUpdate site). If that helps, transfer the Zones
settings to your user profile.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones

Open Registry Editor and navigate to the above key. Export to REG file and
merge the contents in your user profile.

Other possibility is a firewall or Proxy server blocking the download?

It fails while trying to download the activescan....
activex controls on the page won't let it work again....
appreciate your help very much...!
and i did check the active x settings again (& plug-ins)
