Margy,

Download all these spyware removers, update them and run a scan.

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

Download the latest versions of this tool *AND* also update the database
immediately before running a full scan. If that does not help, download
HijackThis from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ Generate a log using
HijackThis and visit any of these forums below to post your HijackThis log.
The experts there will guide you how to remove the spyware from your system:

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't fix the problem
(irritation).
I've since tried a few other search engines, i.e.
AltaVista Search, About, and Yahoo, and they all open the
Browser Bar, too. HotBot, Ask Jeeves, Webcrawler, and
Excite did not. Could the search engines be setting this
view on their own?
I hate the Browser Bar view (folders or otherwise) and am
really annoyed that I can't get it permanently disabled.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Margy
