Depends on which version you have installed.

For Sun:
Tools, Internet Options, Advanced. Clear the checkbox under Java (Sun)

For Microsoft VM:
Same location, clear the three checkboxes under Microsoft VM.

You must restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.
