Have you tried using the script debugger to figure out what is going on?
BTW are you using a proxy server? I regularly have to bypass my proxy
to allow MS sites to work correctly. A related thing you can do (at least
for accessing the Advanced Search page is set Work Offline and see
what is in your cache for it.
