IE: 6.0.2800.1106
At sites which present Java applets, I get this error message:
Java Plug-in 1.3.1_01 cannot be located because values in the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in\1.3.1_01
is not found or is no longer valid
Why is it looking for the 1.3.1_01 key? It should be looking for 1.3.1_02.
When I select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (Tab)
I find the box "Use Java 2 v1.3.1_02 for <applet>" is checked.
Notice the difference.
I have been into the registry and find that the 1.3.1_01 does not exist so
the error message is correct. The JVM is now installed under 1.3.1_02
registry key. Why doesn't it find the 1.3.1_02 JVM when the Advanced (Tab)
shows that it is looking for it??
How do I fix this? I could go into the registry and create a 1.3.1_01 key
(pointing to 1.3.1_02 instance of JVM). I tested this and it appears to
work, but I am not comfortable hacking the registry in this way, so I rolled
back that change.
How do I get IE6 to search for 1.3.1_02?
