I have been experiencing a few issues over the last week
or 2 where the only common denominator seems to be
Internet Explorer.Using XP Pro, with IE v6 sp1

1. I can view the Yahoo website and follow all links etc,
but cannot open my mailbox (it works fine from another
machine)
2. we use several routers at work that we manage remotely.
I can get on to the web interface of all of them except
one. This one I can ping and tracert to and my colleagues
can view the web interface from their machines.

3. Using a web based database, I can browse it and
add/edit/delete all areas etc, but cannot add any
attachments - it says "uploading" but then times out
without completing (after a few miniutes)

4. windows update will no longer work (it was okay last
week) when I click "scan for updates", at first it would
say that none are available (I know there are) and now it
just says "scanning" and freezes on 0% -I can't even close
the window without using task manager.

5 I can view and browse all the Microsoft newsgroups, but
not post or reply. (I can type a message, but when
clicking "send", the eggtimer remains on for several
minutes before timing out and "page cannot be displayed)
(I'm using a different machine to post this!)

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I've deleted temp files and cookies from internet options
and user profile, flushed the dns cache, tried 6 system
restores going back from 2 days to 2 months but all to no
avail.Virus definitions are updated and run daily, adaware
and spybot too and have also tried "hijack this" and
cwshredder

As it's an OEM version of xp pro, I can't do a
repair/reinstall only recovery disks which involves a
format - I only want to use this as a last resort.

What else can I try?
TIA
