post in the default rich text or whatever it is format. I suppose I could
just continue to post in plain text but as you can see from the link, the
group is all about creating graphics so having to post in plain text which
doesn't allow me to potst any graphics up kind of defeats the object of the
group lol.
Yeah...I can see your point. ;-) But at least I fully understand what the
problem is. Unfortunately I haven't found the solution for you.

This speaks volumes - to me - W98se and IE6 SP-1 work well for me. In fact I
have a full upgrade for XP Pro which I daren't install. Had it for more than
a year too. :-)) IE5.% is fine, *if* one has applied the SP-2 and all
updates. Some I know still use it and swear hey like it more than IE6.
That's another story for some other time.

so is because I log onto web mail rather than outlook as I've found too many
viruses slip through outlook even with Norton installed. If I log onto my
email via the web, I can delete suspicious emails before they reach my PC
keeping me virus free ;-)
You will not have that problem with OE as your newsreader if you do this.
Number one: Read all messages in Plain Text. Number two: Do not allow OE to
open or save attachments which could potentially be a virus. Both are in the
Tools>Options>security tab. Just check those, and you won't even know there
was an attachment (except you'll see a small "paperclip" and a notice on the
message that OE removed the attachment. I have *Never* gotten a virus
through OE in the newsgroup. Same applies with my Outlook 2002 Mail Clent. A
good AV program, and ZoneAlarm Pro (older version) pre-empts that from
happening. However, I do see your point for your mail program. Many use a
"junk mail" client like Yahoo/Hotmail etc. My ISP also has ways to deal with
this, and it can be enabled at will.

> Ok well I tried those Java links you gave me (thank you) and I can't see
any of the applets that the pages say I'm supposed to see, so maybe this is
a Java problem? I did download a java thingy (sorry about the terminology
there lol) from http://java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp but as the
tests you directed me don't work it seems it hasn't made any difference.
Have I just invented a new problem here or what??? lol
Heh! There is a chance you have other problems. <g> And you are welcome. <s>
If Java Applets do not run, it "could" be a problem. I can't see how for the
MSN Board, but I could be mistaken. Anyway, many sites use Java applets, and
you may find that you are getting a little less than you'd like without a
working Java. But you also avoid the possibility of getting some Trojans as
well. Trade off.
See here for a general overview:
http://www.infinisource.com/techfiles/surf-safe.html
I do not allow Active Scripting nor Active X to run, but I do permit
scripting of Java Applets. Java permissions are set to High. I can still run
Java Applets; and the links which I offered, as well as real Java pages work
fine.
I use Sun Java and not Windows VM, just the same as you. from the link you
supplied, I see it is suns Java. XP did not have MS VM installed with it.
Sun Java FAQ's

I prefer manual download options (as opposed to the automatic install link
you provided) as I use a program (freeware) called Total Uninstall for all
program Installations and removal. It is excellent to observe all the
changes made to your system during either process, and can therefore assure
a totally clean removal if need be. It is here:

a reply. I also tried posting this problem on the XP boards here and they
referred me over to this board lol. Looks like I have the unsolvable
problem here lol.
Sorry you are getting the run-around, and/ or the "cold-shoulder". Well,
look if the permissions in IE Options> Security tab are set as I've
recommended, and look if Java is enabled in the Advanced tab of IE Options.
Don't give up yet. Maybe we'll get something to work. <S>
