Greetings Jayne -
Assuming you've logged-in and cookies are enabled? That it doesn't require
scripting, or does, and you've enabled that? Does the MSN Groups page now
work since you've un-installed (reverted to prior version) and re-installed?
Now which "patch/ fix" are you referring to? MSKB article number please?
Moving along, *some* patches get superseded by later patches and /or
cumulative updates. If, when you re-installed IE6 other WU scans revealed
other patches (that does happen as vulnerabilities are uncovered or bugs are
found in the previous patch) they will pre-empt the availability/
applicability of any "in-between" updates.
I had such an instance myself where an update I had prior to an IE6
un-install was no longer re-installable. The wording was identical in two
instances to that which you are experiencing, but MS's wording didn't
clarify that this patch was now "obsolete", having been superseded by a
later cumulative patch.
Installed in my IE6 are the following:
SP1;q313829;Q330994;Q828750;Q818529;Q824145;Q832894;Q837009;Q831167;
Open IE>toolbar>tools>help>about should list all updates installed.
So, we'll need to know if the first problem is still extant, and which patch
(details please) you are referring to.

do: ;-)
Copy and paste the following into your address bar of Google (or whatever).
Active Scripting *must* be enabled for this to work.
JavaScript:navigator.appMinorVersion
Or you can use this link (Scripting must still be enabled)

Well I already had SP1 and despite downloading it several times just to be sure it still kept telling me I need sp1 even though I very definitely had it! > > I got frustrated and tried to unistall IE6 and downgrade back to 5.5 but soon figured that (worse than a virus in my opinion) it cannot be uninstalled completely. So I went through the IE6 setup process in the add remove programs and put 6 back. Now whenever I try to download the fix for the problem it tells me IE6 has to be installed for the patch to work..I have got IE6 installed!!! This is soooooooo frustrating as if it wasn't installed I wouldn't be here on this site would I! > > I'm at a complete loss now this just seems to get sillier and sillier. > > Please can anyone help???????? > > Thank you in advance > > Jayne
