IE Basic Authentication not working

When trying to access a website that uses basic
authentication, the username/password prompt will not
appear, it just goes straight to a blank page with Done
down the bottom. The Machine is Windows XP running IE6 SP1.
Up until a few days agon it was working fine, and the user
assures me that no changes have been made. Any
suggestions appreciated.
