Jan,

I think you're off-track on this one. ;)

The initial symptom description contains clues that the user
is expecting to use a Java applet but that the applet isn't starting.
So the usual guess is that Java support is missing or broken.

The second post confirms that inference by explicitly citing
the start of the applet tag from the page's source. But we still
don't know anything about the state of the user's Java support
or the real requirements for using that page.

>From there because a link was supplied I would try testing.
If you go to that page and the applet works for you with MS standard
Java support you can at least assume that the reason for the symptom
is not that the applet is not working because it is written only for Sun Java VM
compatibility. If you have both Java support packages installed
and can activate the other you would have more information about
what the combinations of support the user could have to allow the
page to work normally. So then any advice should simply be a matter
of providing tips about installation or repair for the necessary or most
common support possibility.

BTW the latter is not my specialty. If I had to provide advice I would say
do a Google Groups search of this newsgroup for posts by Jim Byrd
about Java support. ;)
