>From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That may allow IE to work. You should re-enable browser
extensions after the cleanup.
You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of windows explorer.
Or, disabling suspicious programs from MSCONFIG> Startup may return control
of IE.
Download and run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html CWShredder targets only
one family of parasite, but it's a good first step. CWShredder is only about
125 KB so it could be
downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk if necessary.
Follow CWShredder with Ad-aware and Spybot.Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and
Parasites:
