IE for XP clients fails to open PPT if mime header is application/vnd.ms-powerpoint

Hi,

If IIS (or some other web server) returns application/vnd.ms-powerpoint as
the mime type, IE 6.0 XP clients fail to open the file. (Saving it is
possible)
IE returns
    Cannot find server
    The page cannot be displayed
    ... bla bla bla

For all other Windows clients with IE 6.0, this works fine. Opera on XP also
opens the PPT file properly.

If I change the mime type to application/octet-stream, then IE properly
opens the PPT file. But, this seems like a nasty workaround. Is this a known
bug in IE 6.0 when running on XP (with office 10)?

PS, to test this, simply go to properties of IIS default web page, and on
the http headers tab add a mime type for ppt. If you set it to
application/octet-stream, then IE manages to launch powerpoint, if you set
it to application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, this will fail.

Thanks,
