invalid e-mail address

   Each time I type in me e-mail address in the reply box, say, to subscribe to a newsletter, I get the message that it is an invalid e-mail address.
  I have typed it in using every variable I can think of, caps ,no caps,etc.
  I can receive and send mail using the address with no problem, just the "invalid" when trying to subscribe.
