A friend's PC was infected with this virus called
trojan.byteverify, and now the the browser won't log into
MSN Hotmail. I have cleaned and removed the virus from
the PC, but I get error msg's from windows saying that
the java VM isn't working anymore.
Since microsoft doesn't support the java vm anymore, I
followed their website's advice and downloaded the java
runtime environment from Sun. Same problem though.
When I try to install updates and patches from MS, I get
a msg saying that update.exe files can't be verified.
I also get error messages stating that the Cryptographic
Services aren't running, but when i look in the Services
tool it is running fine.
Also, I get error msg'a saying that I need to enable the
activeX controls in the browser, but when I go into
Tools, every thing is enabled like it should be.
Does anyone know whats going on here??? I have been a
very successful technician for over seven years, and have
never encountered anything like it. I am at the point of
giving up totaly and reloading Windows from scratch and
starting over completely.
 HELP!
