IE broswer closes as soon as web page is loaded

My IE 6 browser closes itself as soon as the web page it
is loading is completed, a real pain when google is your
home page! This problem is intermittant and has affected
me several times in the past weeks. Generally I am unable
to use IE 6 to surf the web for a day or two when I am
affected by this problem, then it goes away all on its
own!

Does anyone have any ideas?
