Seeing "?" on website pages - Why - Help Please

As the title says, about 50% of the time I am seeing question marks (?) on
web pages. One site off the top of my head the I see them frequently would
be eBay. Will be some info like: ?sold to that person. Not sure why this is.
Doesn't seem to be affecting anything, is just weird. Is there something
going on with the world wide web? Have seen this on other pages as well. I
do not have any viruses or anything like that. How do I rid these or can I?
Do I just live with it? Has anyone else seen this? Thanks for any help here.
