IE,OE & Hotmail - Connected Problem

Hi All,

A couple of maybe related issues here if anyone can help me, all these happened at the same time and i have not found a fix for any of them yet.

Using Windows XP Pro with 99% updates.

1. When i browse my Hotmail account under IE it complains that I am not using IE and i should download it for a better experience ?

2. In OE i can no longer connect to the Hotmail server to download emails as this complains about Port 0 error, not allowed therefore it just chucks me out.

3. Windows update no longer works, it just sits on the start page and never looks at my computer for updates.

IE works fine for all other connections and web browsing... Anyone any clues as im fresh out as this was all working a couple of days ago.
