Internet Explorer will not launch

I have tried all evening to open my internet explorer. It will not open, it tries but no error message comes up saying why it won't open. I have gone to another computer to post this help message. I also had a new task bar appear from some Search place. I'm wondering if I have spyware now and if so how can I get any software since I cannot get to the internet. Any suggestions? Thanks!
