data entry errors out

Regularly when I am typing information into data boxes,
anything from web addresses to filling in forms online, as
i am typing the computer starts doubling letters and
pretty soon internet explorer errors out. I never get to
see what the error is because it just freezes. The only
way to get out of it is the Cntrl-Alt-Delete. Does anyone
know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
