Hello,

I'd like to disable internet access for some users. I've put in a 127.0.0.1 in their IE settings through a GP but if they use mozilla or other programs that won't stop them.

The network is on 10.10.92.x to 10.10.93.x and everyone needs access to servers at another location with 10.10.90.x.

Thanks.

What you already did is one way to control it, which I've done before at one location. However I didn't allow anyone, at least in the group I was controlling/blocking internet usage, to install software. With your scenario, it appears you are allowing them to install anything they want, otherwise you wouldn't be having this issue. If the users are just Domain User accounts, which can't install anything, it would be much easier.

I guess one other way to get around this, that is if you can't restrict them at this point (due to political or other reasons), is a solution through a reg entry in a GPO to force the machine to use a proxy setting no matter what browser is in use, because all browsers (that I am aware of) use the Windows internet APIs. Check the following link for the reg entry.

This tweak allows you to configure the proxy server settings for all programs that use the standard Windows Internet API, including Internet Explorer.

The following is just for IE, however, if you can identify the entry for each brand out there, such as Firefox, Mozilla, etc, you can apply it to that location as well:

I hope that helps!
