I found some machines did not install (XP so far), i checked the event viewer - on one machine it said was unable to access the domain controller - yet the desktop is connected to my LAN, I can ping DC's, etc... I can see the software that should be installed in software install, but --- that computer is still not installing.
Have you tried applying the infamous Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\
"Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon"
policy?
then the other computer - no errors in the event viewer, did gpupdate, reboot and no install. Opened rsop.msc on this machines rsop there are red x's over the computer name and computer configuration. i drilled down just like the other until I got to error information from within computer configuration and got the following error -----
Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below.
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
That sounds like a DNS error. What is the DNS configuration on that machine? Does it somehow differ from the other machines configuration?
Cheers,
