Thanks Marcin for the suggestion.
We just wanted to force some of our lazy users to get the updates from time to time to have their machines patched and DAT updates. Otherwise they use the machine offline for several months without any updates.

I'm not sure how you envision that enforcement to work, but I'd be reluctant to prevent users from using their laptop if they happen to be in a location that does not have a network connection. In any case, I'm not aware of any group policy setting that would implement such behavior.
You can, however, prevent users from connecting to your corporate network if their computers are not patched (which seems to be more sensible approach). For details, refer to Windows Server 2008-based NAP (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/security-policy.aspx ) or similar NAC products from other vendors (Cisco, Juniper, McAfee, Symantec, etc.)
