What about settings that are the same and available in both ie6 and ie7? Example: "Empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed" is available in both ie6 and ie7.
If I set it in an IE7 preference will it take affect in ie6?
Yes - settings that are there in both IE6 and IE7 should work for both. Take the word "should" as a note that there "may" be registry values and keys in the background that might have changed between IE6 and IE7 - but I must admin I haven't seen an obvious setting like this be changed during a major release like this. It is safe to assume they're working for both.
cheers,
