A new business process needs to have two XP SP2 machines setup to do a
certain job function. This job function deals with sensitive customer
information and for security purposes the two machines cannot have the
ability to print no matter who logs in. Users will log on with their
normal LAN ID. I need a way to prevent/disable printing from these
machines that will not affect the users when they are at their normal
workstation. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
set the required ntfs permissions on spool folder
this means removing the write permissions for user accounts
you could also deny the right to install printer drivers for user
accounts
grtz
Thank you for the info - I altered the ACL's on the %SYS32%\Spool
directory as well as disabling the Spooler service on the machine –
thanks for the help
