Configuring Desktop Policy

Hi.

I am new to Active Directory and Group Policy Editing (I am a Novell
Specialist).
I am still studing how implement the microsoft domain (login script, policy,
etc), but I have to put some workstations in the domain as fast as I can for
a system that requires workstations on a windows 2003 domain. Is there any
tutorial or website describing the best practices?

When user logs on I need:

Create some folders (if it doesn't exist)
copy some files (if it doesn't exist)
Install some applications (if it doesn't exist)
Set up some policies (like block control panel, set time and date,
wallpaper, etc).

I check that lot's of people uses vbscript instead of old bat files.
I have already done the vbscript (is that thebest prectice?)
Where in GPEditor I det the vbscipt to run?
In User Config | Adm Models | System | Logon ?
In user Config | Windows Config | Scripts ?

Thakyou in advance!
