Details
"The format of the specified network name is invalid"

The error when I attempt to open Default Domain Security Policy in Administrative Tools is

"Failed to open the Group Policy Object. You may not have the apporpriate rights".

What's the DNS config on the troubling machines? Try to point the preferred and secondary DNS server IPs to some other DCs (that are working well). Does that change the behavior? I guess it's all up to name resolution issues.

cheers,
