Re: Failed to open group policy object

Hello Meniolf

The error when I attempt to open Default Domain Controller Security Policy
in Administrative Tools is

"Failed to open the Group Policy Object. You may not have the apporpriate
rights".

Details
"The format of the specified network name is invalid"

The error when I attempt to open Default Domain Security Policy in
Administrative Tools is

"Failed to open the Group Policy Object. You may not have the apporpriate
rights".

Details

"Windows cannot find the network path. Verify that the network path is
correct and the destination computer is not busy or turned off. If windows
still cannot find the network path, contact your network administrator"

I am logged on as the Domain Admin on the DC that holds the PDC Emulator Role

I installed GPMC and when I look at the Settings tab it tells me that for
both Computer configuration and User configuration for that policy there are
"No settings defined".

From the other 2 DC's in the domain I have no problem accessing either of
the default policies in Admin Tools or the policies in GPMC

Many Thanks

Dermot

3 Domain controllers in 1 domain. On dc holding all 5 roles cannot
edit the settings of any policy in GPMC. Get error opening Default
Domain Security Policy and Default Domain Controllers Security Policy.
No problem with security. Any issues with running MSSql 7.0 cient
tools?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks
