Hi, I look at that page but it says:-
Microsoft® Remote Server Administration Tools enables IT administrators to
remotely manage roles and features in Windows Server® 2008 from a computer
running Windows Vista® with Service Pack 1 (SP1).
The thing is that I don't want to administer W2K8 from a Vista workstation.
I want to be able to administer Vista Workstations from a W2K3 server.

On my students & classroom LAN we have Server 2003 and I have installed GPMC.
and the Common Scenarios. The workstations are all Windows XP and everything
is running fine using a modified policy from the Common Scenarios to lock
down the desktops etc.
I now have a PC running an evaluation copy of Vista Business Edition to test
various items before switching to Vista. I have set up a test user account
exactly the same as the main user accounts to test the way the policy worked
on Vista especially as there are differences from XP.
The policy does seem to work in general but the Start Menu on the Vista PC
does not display the way I would expect it to. On the PC I have edited the
test-user's start menu to include only the items that the end users should
have. Once I drop the user into the policy via GPMC and then log in all I see
is Microsoft Office which is in fact just one part of the All Users start
menu.
I've done a quick bit of reading and saw something about the server based
downloaded version of GPMC not being compatible with Vista. Is this true and
is there some way around this?
I really like the idea of the policies being server-based so that on the
server you can go into the GPMC and can switch the users in and out of the
polices when required to make changes.
We have the policy doing things such as:
hiding the desktop
hiding the C: drive
hiding Control panel
hiding printer settings
etc etc
Any advices gretafully received
