Hi, I need to add a license key and a network location for shared resources for some software I have for the network. We have a Win2003SP1 Server with XPSP2 clients. I know how to deploy software using GP, but I cant find anything on how to modify the msi file so that it has the license key, and the network share I want it to point to.
Have a look at "Orca" - you can download it free from Microsoft - it's included in the Windows Installer SDK afaik. With Orca you can open the MSI and alter settings and values in there, or better: create a transform file for this. Good chance, your product key and target path go into the "Properties" table (on the left pane when you open the MSI with Orca).
This is an urgent task that I need to complete in the next 48 hours so would appreciate any advice so that I dont have to manually install the titles!!
If it is really urgent, you might want to open a case with Microsoft Product Support Services...
cheers,
Florian
