What is the best way to lock a PC that has been sitting idle via group policy even though someone is logged in?
Is it even possible to log off an idle user via group policy?
Locking the PC would be sufficient but just wondered about the logging off part.

The easiest way is to use a screen saver to do so. Locking the box would be the easiest thing right away:

For logging off or shutting down, there's another freeware screen saver out there you might want to use. But I wouldn't do that. People pretty likely leave their machines alone with some apps open (imagine Word, Excel). Logging those people off or shutting the box down could corrupt their data - not to speak of loss of data. I'd stick with locking the box.

cheers,
