RE: Software Distribution fails with source not available.

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Dear Bob,

Thank you for posting here again.

I'd like to hear that your problem has been resolved. Based on your further
questions about this issue, I'd like to share the following information:

Analysis:
============

Since you distribute MSI's using Group Policy - Computer
Configuration\Software Settings Assigned Applications, this Group Policy is
just applied during the computer startup progress, before a user logs on.
You even don't need to logon the domain with a domain user account to apply
this Computer Configuration part of group policy. In other words, the
software distribution group policy under Computer Configuration is applied
with the computer's local System credentials, but not the domain user
credentials. Therefore, the read/execute permission with the "Domain
Computers" in software distribution share is needed.

Did the information provided resolve your further query? Please do not
hesitate to let me know if you have any further concerns or questions
regarding the issue.
Thanks & Regards,
