R2 printer deployment - remove GPO?

Hi,

Once I have deployed printer(s) using a (computer) GPO and pushprinterconnections.exe what happens if I delete the GPO? Does it need to be in place for the printers to be installed? Are they reinstalled at every start up and if so does that slow down log on?
