Just out of curiosity how do you set the kernel debugger. I had set
it in the boot.ini but to make sure i did it right is that correct.

Did you set this key to 1 and rebooted prior to change the tcpip.sys ?

I have actually left work for the day do i will try the netstat
command tomorrow morning when I get into work. I have taken a look at
that windows site but when i make the registry change it is
unsuccessful. I still get the error messages in the event viewer with
no changes being made because of windows file protection. I have also
tried other options such as the information given on this site here:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Tweaking-XP-Windo...
but when i go to re add the files i get errors saying the files are in
use.

Hello,
this behaviour is really strange, i think this application may try to
reach
a former server or a bad address.
Does it work great as soon as you remove the tcp/ip limit on half opened
connection ?
If you do a netstat -an -p tcp, do you see only valid address ?
Disabling Windows File
Protectionhttp://www.microsoft.com/whdc/archive/wfp.mspx#ENAAC
You may disable WFP by setting the value SFCDisable (REG_DWORD) in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\
Winlogon. By default, SFCDisable is set to 0, which means WFP is active.
Setting SFCDisable to 1 will disable WFP. Setting SFCDisable to 2 will
disable WFP for the next system restart only (without a prompt to
re-enable).

Unfortunately the application doesn't make full connections it uses
the half open. my devices them selves are not getting error messages
but in the event log it does leave the TCP error saying it ran over
the limit. This limit also slows the app down and causes employees to
get angered because now it is much slower than before. Unfortunately
I need to do this because the application vendor doesn't plan on
updating their software for some time and it is an application that is
highly used in our environment.
I am also under the impression that if this is disabled it can be re-
enabled correct? So if I fix the problem and then turn WFP back on to
protect the changed files what would this hurt? Please any help on
making this change would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I know what you want to, but not why. I repeat, the limitation is only
about
half opened connection. Normal connection aren't limited. I wouldn't
do
this
on coporate environnement.

Hello,
can you provide more info on the reason beside changing tcpip.sys ?
Limitation only concerns half opened connection, which wouldn't be
a
concern
except with P2P software.
There isn't any limitation on fully established connection

I am looking to find a way to up the amount of TCP/IP connection
that
my windows XP SP2 PC's can have but when I go to change the
protected
files (tcpip6.sys & TCPIP.SYS) i get errors in my event log of
the
files being protected and not changed. Is there a way to do this
through a GPO or to at least disable the windows file protection
on
all PC's?

I am looking at increasing the amount do to some software that is
used
in or clinic system. I would also like to avoid going to over 1000
workstations to run the EvID4226Patch.exe patch that seems to fix
the
amount but it is not script-able so instead I am looking to change
one
PC with this and then push the new corrected tcpip.sys file out to
the
other PC's after the WFP is disabled. If I try to do it while
enabled
it doesn't change the file but leaves a nice message in the event
viewer with event ID 64001. i hope I explained my situation a bit
better to give a better idea of what I am working to accomplish.
