Re: No Group Policy over VPN connection

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I do get the following error message in the Application Event Log:

Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network.
(An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

source: Userenv
Event ID: 1054

I can ping both of my domain controllers and can log in with any user
account. I'll review your recommendation tonight.

I have a site connecting back to the main office over a DSL connection
with a VPN tunnel. Users can log on, but group policy is not applying
nor do I see any of my AD Network Printers. Running the gpresult command
I get, "INFO: The user 'domain\user' does not have RSOP data." If I run
the gpupdate /force command, it says, "User Policy Refresh has completed.
Computer Policy Refresh has completed," but no policies are applied.

What policies do not get applied? Does the eventlog come up with any
useful information?
Have a look at this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/227369/ and
http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/88586664-6a14-479f-8b10-8986020339931033.mspx?mfr=true

For testing purposes, create a GPO that has any kind of "Administrative
Templates"-settings configured. They should be applied no matter how
"slow" the connection is.

cheers,
