I have around 600 client machines, all are assigned with statis IP address and DNS settings. Now I need to change the DNS settings for all clent machines.Individually going and doing on all PC's will be tediuos. Is ther any way to do it through group policy or any other method??? pls help.
You need to script that as there is no native Group Policy for it. Have a look at the site here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/topics/networking/05_atnc_dns.mspx
and the command-line-tool "netsh" with appropriate parameters.
Be aware that pointing all clients to a wrong DNS server might break your entire Directory Server (Active Directory) with Group Policy. I recommend you really test the script in a test environment. DNS is vital for Active Directory. Keep that in mind while messing around with that stuff.
