All the data still sits on the server, but they want it back in the local
profiles. Since the policy was deleted like it was, the data is "stuck" on
the server, and when the manually set the location of "My Documents" back to
c:\docs and settings\username, etc", it resets back to the server next time
group policy refreshes.
So I am trying to reverse this.
I have asked them to set aside last nights backup tape just in case.

I am assuming the redirect was to a network server. Were there any backups
done on the server? If so, pull your data from those and don't worry about
the policy.

Hi all,
I have a situation where the local "computer guy" deleted the folder
redirection policy, thinking that would end the folder redirection and
send the "My Documents" folders back to the local user profiles. He did
not check the "Redirect the folder back to the local userprofile location
when policy is removed" setting and wait till the policy had applied with
the new settings before deleting the policy. I have been tasked with
getting the data back to the local machines "due to bandwidth issues."
Not my idea, just following the insistence of a rather stubborn client.
If I set another policy with the same settings, will it wipe out the
current data?
Can anyone recommend the best path of action?
Thanks, Mike
