Re: GPO Inheritance

Hi
Are you using windows 2003 with sp1 than u have the tool called GPMC in it
and where u can verify that what policies are being applied to the client

Alternatively u can check the status of the policies that client computer
receives with the help of gpresult command on client pc this will tell u
what policies i.e user and computer policies are aplplied to the system.

If the all the policies are getting applied than check the order in which
policies are applied to that computer and user.

I've been testing out GPO settings and they are not being applied the way
I
thought they would be. Only the user configuration settings is working on
the client pc, not the computer settings, and the settings are also taking
place on the Server (domain controller).

I created a default group policy under the domain. I set a couple
settings
in the computer configuration, specifically the log on message. The log
on
message isn't being applied to the client pc on the domain, only on the
Server.

I thought the Server has it's own group policy (the default controller
policy) and that the default gpo won't affect the server. For ex, I
removed
the administrative tools from the control panel, that policy took affect
on
the client and also the DC. I also can't figure out why only the logon
message is displaying on the Server or why any of the other computer
settings
didn't take affect on the PC.

I have the pc in the computers container, I also tried moving it to an OU
that has the default group policy linked to it. I have tried to use the
gpupdate /force on the server and client many times.

I appreciate any help you can give me.
