Did you delete all the registry entries I have posted?

Thanks very much for the replies, people.

Mtstream,... I'm not using any of those mentioned programs. I think I
have no firewall running. I'm not even trying to send any emails
yet... I'm just trying to Verify the email addresses with the
Worldcast program.

MPerreault,... I don't think I have a virus. I did have some crap a
while ago, and I installed everything I could think of... Norton,
Symantec, AOL, etc. Then I removed them all. Now, I have Spyware
Doctor running almost all of the time, but I disable it when I'm trying
this Worldcast thing. I'm pretty sure the machine is clean.

OK, Mark,... I'm trying editing the Registry for the first time...
In HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/SOFTWARE/POLICIES,
most of the subdirectories are basically empty, but there are some
entries in the MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/IPSEC/POLICY/LOCAL subdirectories, so
I didn't want to delete all of that stuff. Same thing in the
MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/SAFER/CODEIDENTIFIERS/0/HASHES subdirectories.

In Both the MICROSOFT/WINDOWSFIREWALL/DOMAINPROFILE and the
MICROSOFT/WINDOWSFIREWALL/STANDARDPROFILE subdirectories, the
ENABLEFIREWALL parameter was set to 0. I deleted both of those lines.

In the HKEY-CURRENT-USER directory,
there is no SOFTWAREPOLICIES subdirectory.
In the SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/POLICIES subdirectory,
there are only EXPLORER and SYSTEM subdirectories. There is one
parameter called NoDriveTypeAutoRun (value of 145) in the EXPLORER
subdirectory. I did not delete that line. Should I?

Then I restarted the system. In ControlPanel/WindowsFirewall, it now
says "For your security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy",
but I am now able to turn off the firewall. Cool.

Still, the Worldcast program does the same, slow verifying, and gets
the same error 10061 on every email address.

Well,... thanks very much for the instructions on getting to enable
and disable the Win Firewall. That's one hurdle. It still appears
that I have Group Policy installed for some unknown reason, but I don't
think it's bothering me now. Any more ideas on fixing the Worldcast
thing? Any clues as to where I might look? Again,... thanks a bunch,
people.
