XP machine can't retrieve group policy data

Hi,
I have a Windows XP Service Pack 2 machine here. It is member of a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory domain and works fine except one thing: Some settings that are distributed through group policies don’t work.
I investigated the problem and found out that the machine seems to have problems retrieving the group policy data. If I force group policy update by running gpupdate.exe, the following three events are logged in the application log:
Event ID: 1030
Source: Userenv
Type: Error
Description: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the policy engine.
Event ID: 1202
Source: SceCli
Type: Warning
Description: Security policies are propagated with warning. 0x4b8: An extended error occurred. Please look for more details in TroubleShooting section in Security Help.
Event ID: 1085
Source: Userenv
Type: Error
Description: The Group Policy client-side Security failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.
I checked these errors against www.eventid.net but no solution seems to fit exactly to my problem. An erroneous group policy seems implausible to me as only on machine in the network is affected. I also checked the communication with the domain controllers by dcdiag.exe und netdiag.exe. Everything works fine.
Any ideas?

Dominik
