XP specific settings gone

I have a GPO edited with the GPMC which I was using to set XP specific settings on my domain. Recently I attempted to edit this GPO only to discover that all the XP related entries are no longer listed. If I double-click the GPO in GPMC and go to the settings tab I can see all the settings which I have modified (i.e. Computer Config-Admin Template-Network-Network Connections-Windows Firewall) but if I attempt to edit the GPO, this particular subkey (as well as all other XP related subkeys) does not show up. When a new machine is brought up however the correct settings are applied to it.

The machine I am using to make the changes is an XP SP2 machine with the GPMC. It is the same machine I was able to edit the GPO with before. I have tested this with Server 2003 machines as well.

Does anyone know why I am no longer able to modify these settings? It occured to me that someone with a 2000 workstation modified the policy and their client was too old to know about the XP specific settings. If they made a change and resaved the policy would that account for this behavior? I was under the impression that in the scenario above their client just wouldn't be able to see the settings, not that it would remove them.

Thanks.
