Re: Problems assigning apps via Policy

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Sorry, to clarify: I am assigning the msi's to users (not machines) on XP
SP2 PC's. The apps are showing up correctly in "Add/remove Programs", but
not the shortcut icons in Start Menu.

I assume the icons are in the package, but maybe this is wrong? I'm using
unaltered msi's from Adobe. Simply double-clicking the msi's puts the
shortcut icons in the Start Menu okay. I assumed assigning via GPSI would
also be able to do this okay?

I popped the msi in to ORCA, but didn't not see an "AllUsers" property.
There were conditions and events that seem to match, but not exactly sure
what you meant. Am I looking in the right place?

So, I'm assuming that the package actually includes the icons? Is it
possible that package is set to only install per-user but since you are
using per-machine deployment they are not getting put into the All Users
profile, as they should if they were per-machine? Do you know what the
AllUsers property is set to in the package?

Help!

I am trying to assign applications to XP SP2 clients via Group Policy.

The apps are visible in "Add New
Programs", but I never see the icons in the
Start Menu. Even after a reboot of the client. So its like it is
Publishing
the apps rather than Assigning...

I am working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator CS2; and MS
Project
2000 msi's...

Seems like everything ought to work, but just don't see those icons...
Any
ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Dan
