Doubtful that this is your problem. If the client side extension was not
actually registered you wouldn't get any activity at all for software
installation. I suspect the problem is more in either how the package is
referenced or permissioned or in the package itself. One thing I usually
suggest when someone is having these kinds of problems is to first enable
logging on the software installation CSE. This is described at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246509/EN-US/ or I have a GP logging ADM
file on my site at www.gpoguy.com/tools.htm that lets you enable this
through policy.
